Fracking as permitted development.
- Bdavies (5th Sep 2018 - 13:12:35)

Anyone who has any opinion for or against fracking is encouraged to complete the government survey - link below.

It is regarding whether the establishment of a 2+ hectare (20 000 m2) exploration drilling pad, which can be placed as close as 600 metres from any home, should be considered permitted development - i.e. should receive the same planning restrictions as a garden shed or small extension.

We live within a petroleum exploration development licence area here in Liphook and close to other PEDLs in Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex.

Needless to say to allow this as permitted development is controversial.

It appears to be specifically for non-fracturing shale exploration. However I don't agree that any mineral exploration involving drilling should be allowed under permitted development.

If UKOG or Europa (for example) set up a well site to explore then you can guarantee that unconventional means of extraction (fracking) will be next. Very little, if any, gas and oil in this and surrounding areas will flow through conventional means.
