Application for illuminated signage at Anchor - Clare (4th Sep 2018 - 22:11:46)
I have looked at the planning application made by Greene King for the illuminated signage but can’t find position or design?. There is this statement .....
DESIGN AND ACCESS STATEMENT FOR THE ROYAL ANCHOR @ LIPHOOK
The new signage does not involve any redevelopment to the structure of the building. We are just renewing the old signage to keep in line with the surrounding area
The signage at the property has been thought about and needs to be sympathetic to the building and will not encroach on any architectural features such window mullions or lintels
All the signs are manufactured to a high standard so that they have a long life span. They are in traditional colours in keeping with the area
The access to the site will not be affected in any way
They state they are just renewing existing signage but I can’t think that there is currently any illuminated signage ( if there is, fair play, it must be very unobtrusive)

Could be the sign over the door as that is lit , doesnt means 50ft high on a post any sign with a light over it is classed as illuminated

They want to start spending some money on the inside before they start worrying about advertising the place.

The signs are mostly to replace existing but look more like old railway signage (it would look good at the station!) than appropriate to an historic inn.
I think its an attempt to modernise. They also plan to move the door to what was apparently the original and close off the existing completely.
They are doing something to the inside - putting up some timber partitioning to prevent draughts! Oh well, no expense spared.
