Squirrels
- Plum (24th Aug 2018 - 19:03:07)

Has anyone else noticed a sudden lack of squirrels in Radford Park recently?

None in my garden alongside the park either. Usually they are there for the hazelnuts.

- Headley Road (25th Aug 2018 - 13:05:15)

I maintain a peanut bird-feeder in Headley Road, and in recent weeks it has, unusually, not been attracting grey squirrels. I had put this down to there being, at this time of year, plentiful supplies of hazel nut and other food available - no need for the greys to go to the trouble of raiding a guarded feeder. I am interested to see the earlier two posts.
I wonder if others have noticed this apparent absence, or if there is an squirrel expert around who knows the reason ??

Earlier the year, we had four squirrels in our garden, but they have disappeared.

I have not seen as many squirrels as usual but someone continues to eat all the acorns

Perhaps all the tree cutting has forced them in to hiding?

The Squirrels your referring to are immigrants, always have been, you voted them out, they packed their bags and headed far enough away to watch you implode.

Very strange - we had a whole family dessimating the bird feeders but haven't seen any for over three weeks

Maybe they've moved. Whilst on the phone the other day, I watched a squirrel eat every hazelnut off the branch of a tree. Today, a baby helped him or her self to the bird food.
