what a sad sad world
- wendy (21st Aug 2018 - 10:31:44)

What is it all coming too? don't trust anyone on the phone. Don't open the door to strangers. Try and secure your car from would be thieves. For ages now children haven't been able to play outside for fear of being molested or kidnapped. I could go on and on. The world is a beautiful place, full of wonderful things, its just the humans in it, who are hell bent on ruining everything. What's the answer? there isn't one of course.

Moving out of the wonderful UK springs to mind.... there are lots of much better / interesting / safer / value for money etc etc - places in the world now to live.

Check out where are the top best places, take a look at their cost of living etc and get yourself a plan!!

Anything is better than whining on this site, it's a site full of moaners and groaners, real grumps who quite often haven't been out of county, & no I don't mean if they have even just maybe been on a package holiday to Magaluf !

This site should come with a health warning.

We live in a multi connected world unfortunately.

The media only report the bad in the world (if it bleeds it leads) on 24 hour rolling news channels and various online outlets when there isn’t enough news to cover a 24 hour period.

Also with people connected 24/7 news can travel faster than it did just 10 years ago.

In truth there is no crime wave, kids don’t get molested by strangers and murder. Thankfully is still rare.

Keep calm and carry on. The world isn’t a bad place. The media just want you to think it is

Susie

If you find this site so full of moaners and groaners - why become one of them with a big moan?!

Re: what a sad sad world
- Penny (21st Aug 2018 - 15:31:07)

Well said Liz. My thoughts exactly.

- Susie (21st Aug 2018 - 15:46:09)

Liz & Penny,

if you read my post properly, it includes suggestions, which are a positive.

Both the 2 of you post on here regularly with snide comments, clearly both of you are quite bitter with your own little lot!!

- liz (21st Aug 2018 - 16:16:00)

Susie

You can be as unpleasant as you like but you still moaned - hugely!

- Mr Mason (21st Aug 2018 - 17:12:17)

Whilst I do share the concerns of the OP, it's usually the same bitter people ranting about the same old stuff.

Cyclists
State of the NHS
Politicians
The youth of today

Life is short and constantly moaning on Liphook talkback isn't going to change the world.

If you want to make a difference, run for Prime Minister

- Clare (21st Aug 2018 - 21:22:48)

In my opinion …
Every small act of kindness we can do makes a difference and makes small ripples which reach further than we will know.
Whether it is a kindness to the environment by picking up a single piece of litter, which improves the appearance of our community, keeps wild life safer and role models positive actions.

It could be a kindness to a stranger, offering to push a trolley back to the bay, finding 20p for the person who is just short at the till, letting someone know they have made a difference to your day, learning more about conditions such as autism or dementia to ensure we are better equipped to understand and support rather than shy away............

There are so many simple and effective ways to be part of the change of mindsets. I can guarantee in December there will be lots of people posting on here wanting to help in homeless shelters etc over the Christmas period, don’t wait, do it now, be thankful now.

Last week, I had a total stranger tell me they really liked a pair of boots I was wearing.........it made me smile, what a lovely gift from a total stranger!

So I guess I am saying I find far more that is uplifting and positive in the world than I find sadness.

Mr Mason

Don't you think you are getting things just a tad out of proportion? 'Talkback' is a local forum people post about events / occurences / gripes / items for sale / recommendations etc. etc. I'm not sure what else you would expect.

Just to look at the facts. Top 20 Talkback when I looked:

7 x sport/wellbeing (football, squash, table tennis, japanese healing, running, dance classes, reflexology)

3 x lifestyle (gardening, puppy classes, fish tank)

1 x Local Plan

1 x request for Gas Engineer

3 x crime (car break ins (2), gas canisters)

4 x warnings (computer scams, Nottingham knockers, possible fraud, road closures )

1 x opinion (sad, sad world)

Fairly well balanced I would say.

Re: what a sad sad world
- wendy (22nd Aug 2018 - 09:43:29)

Well, what a lot of miserable, sick and twisted people there are on this site. I was merely saying what a lovely world we live in, and what a pity it is that human beings are set on ruining it. Some of the remarks left only prove what I said is true. How sad this is.

Re: what a sad sad world
- helen (22nd Aug 2018 - 11:15:16)

Wendy calling people sick and twisted is not a good reflection on you.
We should be kinder to each other especially on this website! B used newspapers as an example, do not believe everything written in them!

Re: what a sad sad world
- liz (22nd Aug 2018 - 11:31:27)

Wendy

A bit miserable maybe, but I see absolutely nothing sick or twisted and I'm sure the Editor wouldn't allow it.

Re: what a sad sad world
- A.R (22nd Aug 2018 - 13:05:32)

How ironic that Wendy and Susie were complaining of moaners on some posts, only to write posts more vitriolic than the people they were talking about. Very confusing.

Re: what a sad sad world
- Penny (22nd Aug 2018 - 13:52:08)

Susie - "Definition of snide - derogatory or mocking in an indirect way, (of a person) devious and underhand, counterfeit; inferior."

For the record could you please post on this site the content of any post that I have made which meets this criteria ie Snide. If you are unable to do this I shall assume you cannot find any and therefore draw the conclusion that your remarks about Liz and myself posting snide posts are without substance.

FYI I am definitely not bitter "about my own little lot". Pot and Kettle spring to mind as I found your post both snide and offensive so perhaps it is you who is "bitter about your own little lot."

Dog poo alert
- George Roper (22nd Aug 2018 - 20:25:10)

Just to warn folkes. Piles of dog poo along Portsmouth Rd up near the Moses court retirement flats. Unfortunately I picked up a another steamer on my brogues and caused brown poetry along the Hall. Wife has called the carpet man again.
