Scam Warning - Keith Thomas (21st Aug 2018 - 08:45:13) You know the old scam where someone from ”Microsoft” calls and says there’s a problem with your computer, well it’s now happening with bogus Internet Provider calls. This warning from Which Consumer Magazine ... “The Router Scam In the scam, someone calls you supposedly from the technical support team of an internet service provider, BT, Sky or TalkTalk and claims there’s a problem with your router, either that it’s been ‘compromised in several different countries’ or isn’t working properly. Either way, they claim it has to be changed. To create a sense of urgency, the caller advises that your home internet will have to be shut down within 24 hours unless you act. The scammers claim they’re your internet provider and are so sorry about the issues with the router they want to refund you money. They then move into a traditional scam aimed at tricking you into making a payment, securing your bank details or gaining access to your online bank account.” The answer is to be suspicious about every phonecall I’m afraid. What a sad world we live in.

Re: Scam Warning - A.R (21st Aug 2018 - 11:55:07) I have a BT call blocker phone which blocks out all these calls, and you can also just let calls from people you know. Trouble is I miss playing along with these scam companies or taking my frustrations out on cold callers. But it does the trick. For older people these are a Godsend and everyone should make sure their older relatives have one.
