dangers of inhaling from gas canisters
- Alison (19th Aug 2018 - 09:30:53)

I saw this on a Facebook share and thought it would be useful to spread the word of the dangers involved given that some people in our community are getting their highs from these canisters and leaving them around in local parks....

The link is about nitrous oxide (‘laughing gas’) but I’ve known very serious consequences from sniffing butane too (lighter fuel), including the death of a gifted young man some years ago.

Do we really think the people getting their highs from gas cannisters are the sort of people who read Liphook Talkback.

I saw some of them left in the co-op car park every week.

Adrian I think you’re right they most probably won’t read it but maybe their parents or Grandparents will and can make them aware of the dangers.

Adrian,

Given the demands for a £150.000.00 new bling skate park (about 15k per actual skating user on currently fully functional park) from many (see past posts) I would have to say your wrong regarding those using the gas reading this forum. I pick plenty a used canister up at the skate park and bin them, along with empty booze cans, as the smell of smoked skunk still hangs in the air so I suspect at least some of those using the gas are using this forum either when they want something, or indeed to deny something.

Note, am not suggesting its all skate park users are up to it, but its nearly all whom spend time at that location without any form of skate device. Why they favor that location when about 10 different households have a close up view of them I don't know, but the place isn't known as the "Sainsbury trolley breakers yard" or "Child Junkie park" for nothing.

Come on Alison. Please lighten up. If the kids want to get high let them get high.

It’s not like they are coming into your back garden and doing this stuff. The litter is an issue, granted. But that’s as far as their anti social behaviour extends.
