Traffic Headley road
- Nick McConaghry (21st Feb 2011 - 19:08:34)

I have notice that the motorists using HEADLEY road seem to not understand what 30mph means todate have logged over 500 or more vehicles failing to obey the limit the day will come when some one wll have an accident >there are alot of people who walk to and from their homes and and on school days there are a lot of children going to school.
as yet i have not seen (as iwas informed by a councillor )that their are perodic checks by the police as yet not seen by me please can someone addrtess the speeding and not pass the buck .

There is also a speed problem in Midhurst Road, between Station Road & Highfield Lane. I have seen police speed checks in London Road near Radford Park & on the Portsmouth Road at Bohunt Manor but never on Headley,Haslemere or Midhurst Roads

There are speeding problems all over!
Walking my dog at 6 every morning Haslemere Road becomes a race track and I've witnessed several near misses involving cats recently. I have taken a few number plates and am prepared to name and shame if I see anyone hit anything and drive off!
As a parent I am also dismayed at the amount of people who speed through the 20mph zone even during school leaving time.
Oh and as for the young man, the bus and the ice cream man who speed down the hill on the road I live on, it's only a matter of time before there's an accident.
Is anyone in that much of a rush that it's worth the risk of causing a death?
An extra 5 mph can mean the difference between a slight injury and death when being hit by a car.

Sorry to say it,you probaly need a fatal accident before the local council, police force, will actually get of their fat backside's and do something about it.
There is a local haulage company, whose lorrys come up the Headley Road at break neck speed, your talking 40 tons at 40mph,don't think they will stop in time!

i've found the traffic has slowed quite a bit since the road from passfield was dropped down in speed?

(Not saying its the safest road in the the world) i'd really like a wider pavement and a 20mph speed limit from the a3 bridge but i can live and dream...

Has the council ever looked into signs with speed sensors that flash when a motorist is speeding?
These I feel would make a difference to speeding hot spots around the centre of the village and by the schools if they were in place.

We had one of those flashing speed signs in the Haslemere Road. It flashed so many times in the week it broke down.
They are not a deterent, the speed camera is but when do we see police in the village.

A yellow "Kill your speed sign" has suddenly appeared in Midhurst Road between Gunns Farm & Hollycombe close.
