Knee Injury
- Ryan (4th Aug 2018  09:59:00)

I injured my knee about 20 years ago with side impact in a game of football. At the time I received no medical help as it didn't seem like much of a problem. However, it's never really been right.

A few years ago I seeked help through the NHS, but essentially got told not to use it too much... However, over the last couple of months, I have been trying to get fit. I have been going to the gym 3 days a week, lost a fair bit of weight and gained a level of fitness I haven't known for a long time! However, my knee is causing me some discomfort. I don't really know if what I'm doing is helping or hindering, but I really enjoy it. I wonder if there is anyone local who can help me, perhaps a sports physio? Obviously happy to pay for any treatment or support. Feel free to email me on ryanlmn@gmail.com

Not medically qualified but you might have a meniscus tear. I had similar problem and eventually had a MRI confirmed the problem and a trim of the torn cartilage has helped sort. 12 months after surgery and much better but been advised not to do any impact exercises. Only way really to find out is get a MRI, in the meantime I would be careful as you may be doing more damage.

There is a fantastic Sports Injury Clinic in Haslemere. They sorted my back and knees. The Haslemere Clinic It is opposite Holy Cross Hospital. I went to a guy called Peter Black who is brilliant, he used ultrasound, acupuncture and osteopathy.
