council tax reduction
- a resident (29th Jul 2018 - 16:14:45)
I've been wondering if Hampshire County Council are planning on a council tax reduction for Silent Garden private properties as some of the social housing residents they have housed can only be described as undesirable.
Earlier in the week police were at the Silent Garden this time due to men shouting threatening obscenities at one another, this behaviour isn't acceptable and descent families with children don't want to listen/witness it
Hampshire County Council please could you consider moving the residents involved to an appropriate property possibly a shed in an extremely rural location before house prices drop.

I understand your frustration and concern, but by stating that only private residents should get a reduction you seem to tarnish all other residents with the same brush. What about part buy residents, what about upstanding hardworking social housing residents?
I have seen a lot of anti social housing comments on here lately, it's really quite sad that a few idiots causing issues can tarnish a majority of good people.
Of course I agree that people who behave badly should have to suffer consequences, including perhaps rehousing. Though you're should note that the 2 men you refer to do not actually live in Liphook.

Another resident I agree with you totally regarding hard working residents and lets just hope the 2 men don't return to our lovely quiet street as they're clearly not welcome.

It is the police who deal with anti social behaviour if it were a late noisy party it would be EHDC.

What Ferris Cowper meant was the EHDC portion of the tax payable. He did not mean the end to payment of council tax.
We will still have to pay our tax due for Hampshire County Council, the police service, the fire and ambulance service, and the portion paid for running the Parish council.
So all he meant was that EHDC hope that their business ventures, paid for with council taxpayers money, will produce enough income for them to pay their own expenses and any services they provide to us.
As Hampshire County Council are responsible for the social services payments, whose costs are always in an upward direction, you will have increases there, so even if there is no charge for EDHC services, the council tax is still likely to rise in the coming years.
