Duck Race: Alton - NCS Team N0902 (28th Jul 2018 - 14:27:59) Hi! We are NCS team N0902 and we are currently taking part in the National Citizen Service (NCS). NCS is a government funded scheme for 15-17-year olds to learn new life skills, make a difference in the community and build a stronger, more cohesive society. Part of this four-week programme is a two-week social action project. As a group of 14, we have decided to support the charity YPI Counselling Basingstoke (Young People’s Independence Counselling) as they are local charity to Hampshire that we believe we can help and make a real change for the better. In supporting them we are holding fundraising events, awareness campaigns and will volunteer between the 30th July 2018 to 3rd August 2018. Therefore, on MONDAY 30th JULY, we will be hosting a Duck Race by Alton Community Centre, Amery Street. The Duck Race will commence at 1pm Near Tanhouse lane, around 100 m upstream from the River Wey. At the Duck Race you will be able to buy a duck for £2 and customise it for a further £1. Additionally, there will be a bake sale. Of course, ALL proceeds will be donated to our chosen Charity YPI Counselling which conducts vital services, running a free counselling programme for 11-25-year-olds, family counselling and special counselling services for young people and relies on donations to exist. Even if you are unable to attend our Duck Race at Alton Community Centre on Monday, we would still be very grateful if you could donate what you can to YPI charity through our crowdfunding site, as, like any other charity, YPI desperately needs the funds in order to carry out its crucial work.
