Tesco Car Wash
- Willo (9th Jul 2018 - 22:05:29)

Anyone had any problems with the Tesco car wash damaging your paintwork? Jet washer stripped a whole load of paint off my bumper today right in front of my eyes. I think the pressure on the jet wash must be too high but the guys denied it, said it must have been there before and quite honestly the guy was really rude and aggressive about it. Won't be going back there as long as I live.

I don't let anyone wash my car but me. You can't go wrong with a five stage wash, using two buckets (with grit guards, naturally). In response, it is possible that if the pressure was set too high and they stood too close not moving the lance, then for sure, it could cause damage. Likewise, the paint may have weak in the first instance. Some cars do suffer from weaker/ poorly applied paint on plastic trim. You only have to look at the wing mirrors of the early MK1 Honda Jazz to see what I mean.

I had an issue there and made a complaint to Tescos, after all it is a "Tesco Car Wash".

Tescos were most accommodating in resolving my complaint to my satisfaction.

Thanks that's good to know, I had presumed that as the car wash is a franchise Tescos wouldnt be interested. I will contact Tesco, who knows maybe there was a problem with my paint, maybe it was the chemicals, maybe the pressure, I don't know but the guy was so rude I won't just let it go.

In comparison to this I had an issue with the car wash at Sainsbury’s in Liphook and they could not have been more helpful. All sorted out now by courteous and helpful staff.
