Highfield School party?!
- Mary (9th Jul 2018 - 06:35:00)

There was a loud party last night - band and all that so possibly a wedding with music blaring until 1 am this morning ie Monday.

It sounded as if it was coming from Bookham school on Highfield Lane. Can anyone confirm?

I have no objection to people having a good time but I do object to being kept awake on a school night especially if there is a commercial enterprise hosting weddings / parties without consideration for neighbours.

Thanks

Another party last night with loud music going on until about 1.30am.

We’re on the railway side of the Canada Way estate and it sounded as though it was perhaps in our area or maybe the Berg Estate or Gunn’s Farm?

No problem with people celebrating but please take it indoors at midnight - some of us have an early start the next day and need to get our sleep.

Merged

Oh come on, how often do we have a summer like this? and how often do our football team do so well? bear with it for the next week or so, winters are long and depressing.

So it's ok for babies and school children to have a poor nights sleep because the weather is nice!? I don't think so Wendy. Not to mention people who do jobs where sleep deprivation is a serious matter. Or are you ok with your doctor or nurse potentially making a mistake because England can kick a ball in the right direction!?
As stated above, no one has an issue with parties. The issue is the time that the party went on until.

Perhaps Wendy would be less glib when explaining to children unable to sleep at midnight why there was so much noise...

Nobody minds some reasonable noise once in a while - this was not it given the volume and lateness

Clearly Wendy you do not have kids that would be going to school the following day! The reality is that in this current heatwave most people are trying to sleep with their windows open so it is not unreasonable (despite the soccer which is not played after 11pm) to expect a little consideration regarding noise in the early hours. I live in a terrace house yet next door to me last night they decided to have a BBQ which started at 7 and was still going strong at 4.40 this morning, raucous shouting and music as well. Probably no more than 15 feet from my kids bedroom windows. Long hot summer indeed

Yes, it was a bit annoying trying to get some sleep before a 5am start this morning, but I accept it's finally a decent summer and it wasn't too bad.

On the other hand, if Highfield are regularly doing this then they are inconveniencing some of their neighbours which isn't ideal.

By comparison, I recently arrived at a hotel in France to find a party and live band in full swing. I resigned myself to not getting any sleep, but - without being prompted - reception said the music would stop at 11:00pm. In fact, it went from full-on karaoke at 10:59:58pm to complete silence as if someone cut the power at 10:59:59pm!

Have the functions, enjoy the summer, but yes - spare a thought for others and move it indoors or turn it down at the right time and everyone can be happy(ish!).
