Weed killing
- Brian Cranston-Moran (4th Jul 2018 - 20:18:12)

Two or three weeks ago Two Quad Vehicles came down Meadow Way spraying I presume weed killer, trouble is the guys dont seem to understand it should be sprayed on the weeds.

So they missed all the weeds in the gutters, but of course they will be contractors what do they care they get their money.Wake up council and check these contractors they cut the grass but do not clean it up just leave the cuttings mess allover the paths.

More waste of the tax payers money.

If they cleaned the pavement and road properly there would be less weeds.

The hedges are overgrown and some junctions are getting views blocked.

Councils do not seem bothered these days.

Maybe we should all do outside our houses to make Liphook tidier.

Well thats a nice community spirit Brian

Dont you have any pride in the way the village looks?

You know darn well council cutting spending sometimes you have too do things yourself

HCC and EHDC are not responsible for cutting back private hedges and verges, only local authority owned ones.
The land owner is responsible for ensuring they cut back any hedge or grass growth from their own land that encroaches onto the public highway.
If they don't the local authority can do it, and then charge the land owner.
To help keep our village looking tidy surely it's only neighbourly to keep your little piece of England neat and tidy and any pavements and roads clear.
Why do some people appear to be so selfish now and expect everyone else to do things for them?

I agree mostly with D as to " doing our own patch" but we do pay council tax to have the roads and communal areas maintained ownership of the roads includes maintenance of road and highway verges. If we did it all ourselves would we get a rebate on council tax!
