Royal Anchor parking
- Stevie Mac (3rd Jul 2018 - 10:20:31)

Advice please...I received a parking fine for overstaying in the Royal Anchor car park. I was told by the pub that as I am a customer they would contact the parking company to cancel the fine.

I have now received a further letter chasing the fine.

I have contacted the pub and they have apologised and pledged to re-contact the parking company.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what action have you taken?

Happened to us in February.

We phoned the manager up and he said bring the letter in and he would take it off the system.

I took it in but he wasn't around so I handed it to someone behind the bar who said she would pass it to him.

This didn't happen as we got a letter from a debt recovery agency demanding the money.

We spoke to the Anchor again who promised he would sort it but we get letters from the recovery agency still.

I've read volumes about this on the internet and the best advice is to ignore - they put on the frighteners to scare you into paying but have no intent to go legal.

The threatening letters always quote the one and only time in UK legal history that money was recovered from someone by a parking company (probably because he decided to go legal?) Scare tactics.

DO NOT contact the parking company in any way as this is an admission of guilt. If letters come from Debt Recovery Plus - ignore them. They then start sending letters from Zenith to make it look like they've sold the debt on to a more tenacious company. Ignore them too - they are the same company! There is a lot of info on this company on Moneysavingexpert.com about the underhand tactics of this company.

I'm disgusted at the Anchor managements lack of action on this and am composing a letter of complaint to Greene Kings HO in regards to this.

We were there for a meal and used the car park for its intended purpose. I'm pretty sure it wasn't over 4 hours either -the car parking company have provided no times of our stay.

We used the Anchor a lot but would not step foot in there again and would encourage others not to do the same.

This is appalling. I know Green King justify the restrictions by saying that they had problems with commuters parking all day but during my many years in the area I had never noticed the car park was full all day.

The Anchor just seems to be going from bad to worse! just look at their TripAdvisor reviews, the only positive ones are clearly fake, the rest just terrible. Green King should be ashamed at letting this iconic pub get to the state it currently is

Just be careful what you wish for ......green King who own the loch fine fish restaurant chain in Farnham and Guildford are closed .They may think why bother with all the negativity that surrounds the anchor.Yes it's not the best pub and so what if they get the parking wrong sometimes get over it.Vote with your feet and eat at the deer hut ....£100.00 for a meal for two if you so desire. If not enjoy steak for two for 25.00 at the anchor and walk ,leave your car at home.
