Builders and their Scams
- Ian (29th Jun 2018 - 13:43:36)

Wow what an interesting conversation I overheard yesterday.

Sat in my car minding my own business when the builders working on the site the other side of the hedge were laughing at just how simple it is to convince their customers that they need a new roof.

Apparently we are all so stupid (not the words these guys used as I'm sure you can imagine) and that this one works every time. Guaranteed to boost our quote and income by a few grand on almost every extension we do - they continued.

People in this area have got more money than sense, daft ****s and several other 4 letter words.

Well Mr Local Building firm it seems that it is you and yours that are the stupid ones - your truck was parked outside emblazoned with the company name, telephone number and website.

I'll let the good people of Liphook decide if they want you to be named and shamed- OVER TO YOU LIPHOOK.

Hi Ian

I think it's your duty to name and shame. There are very vulnerable people around who would fall for their scams.

Please do the right thing.

You should tell the owners of the site they are working on at least. I am not suprised and think it goes on everywhere

Whether you name and shame or not, you should definitely report to Trading Standards and Rogue Traders/Watchdog.

I don't think you have any right to shame a local company based on what you say you heard over a hedge. If the company is that bad then I'm sure they would not be getting any jobs. People are free to get many quotes before deciding on which companies to use.

Go for it - too many vulnerable people fall victim to things like this.

Any proof? Or you could be a business rival or embittered ex employee looking to make trouble! That’s the problem with internet, we have absolutely no way of knowing. Therefore suggest the most appropriate course of action is to alert trading standards and let them GET PROOF

I can confirm that the original poster William (Bill) was using the same iphone / internet connection as the first reply, calling himself Brian and making derogatory remarks about Kingsbury Builders.

One can deduce that he was possibly a competitor and his remarks should be disregarded.

yes I think it's 100% Fake News

There are good and bad tradesmen, there are good and bad customers. Trust me if only trademens could have a rouge customers programme to even the playing field, that would open a few eyes to what really goes on.
