accident help
- wendy (28th Jun 2018 - 09:15:42)

yesterday my husband and I were involved in an accident, caused by my husband, he put his foot on the accelerater instead of the brake, we went through a brick wall then hit a garden fence which fell on us, and we couldn't get out of the car. This all happened at the Jolly Drover Pub, I just wanted to say how wonderful everyone was to us, Two young chaps yanked away the fence and helped us out of the car, then cleared up all the debris from the road, A chap stopped and took photos for us for insurance purposes, and the staff in the Jolly Drover were amazing, putting our shopping in their cold room, then helping my husband to get help with getting the car taken away, the AA were useless, wouldn't help at all, as was the insurance company. We couldn't even find a taxi to take us home, so the young chap in the pub brought us home. No one else was involved, and we are ok, just very shaken, and it's the first accident my husband has ever had. This really has renewed our faith in human beings, so much kindness, so thank you to all involved, especially the two young chaps who got us out of the car then disappeared.

Wendy,
I had an accident like this recently but I drove into the back of another car. It left me nervous to drive for a few months. My children were in the car too but everyone was ok just the car in a state.
As long as you and your husband are ok, that's all that matters, the car can be repaired or replaced. And as they say, accidents happen!
Well done to all your good Samaritans.
Eleanor

So glad to hear that you and your husband were not injured, although badly shaken.
It goes to show that when help is needed there are still some heroes around.
Well done to everyone and The Jolly Drover staff.

I am so sorry you had this horrid experience :-(
So good to know that when the chips are down, there are kind people about willing to help.
I always believe that people are inherently good and this is a fine example of such a belief.
I do hope you two are ok and not too shaken.
Well done to all who helped :-)

Thank you so much for all your positive replies, good to hear. We are fine, things could have been so much worse. The down side is that it's going to cost £9,000 to put the car right, and my husband thinks the insurers will say it is a right off. So we have a big problem.

Hopefully insurance will cover most of that?

Sorry you had such a nasty experience - quite easily done, once, anyway. It won’t happen again because he’ll be super careful from now on. Sometimes it takes something like this to make us realise what could have been.

Maybe you’d like to take a look at my entry ‘could you love this car?’ On this page at the moment.

It’s a beautiful car and in excellent condition...

Jay
