swimming pool
- Sarah (7th Feb 2011 - 09:56:01)
Can anyone recommend a swimming pool nearby - I have tried the Herons but it was very grubby and busy the day I visited.
Was this just a poor experience? Can anyone suggest somewhere more suitable for an adult lane swim?
Many thanks!

Old Thorns have a pool - not sure how much they charge just to use the pool - they are not cheap, same with Forest Mere. There is the Taro at Petersfield - not sure if it is much cleaner than the Herons.....The Georgian House Hotel - you can swim there too.

Never mind a Gospel hall, why can't we have a swimming pool in Liphook, there is far more need for that!!

I don't think we want a swimming pool OR Gospel Hall on the newly designated National Park land. Why ruin one of the best views from Liphook? - Just because another swimming pool is 'a bit grubby' - get them to clean it!

Liz, I agree with you about the view...
but it would be great, the schools could use it, I'd regularly use it (I use the one at Petersfield now) my kids could have swimming lessons at one that's close by and even meet their friends there to have some excercise...hey I'm even qualified to teach swimming, I could run my own classes!!!
I know, dream on.

Many years ago I was on a committee to raise money to build a swimming pool on the Bohunt school site. Alas it came to nothing and monies had to be returned. You got the squash courts instead.

There is a pool at Mill Chase, Bordon open to the public I believe.
I too remember when there was a campaign to have a swimming pool at Bohunt. The main problem was the long-term upkeep, the health and safely aspect, the CLEANING (!!) etc. etc. I don't remember the detail, but the Capital cost was huge. However, Liphook is now a different animal many years later but there are still the issues of Management, maintenance and upkeep.
So keep on dreaming. How about writing a letter of complaint to The Herons?
