re wheely bin stickers, the advice from the police is that too many in one area actually dllute the message and do not have the desired effect. they are not intended for putting on fences etc. re crossing the square: a controlled crossing in the square is being investigated and the necessary electrics are already in place underground. re the parish council: only two of the 12 elected are 'new' and one of those was a parish councillor for many years previously.

Sam -

thanks for extra info. I think what we have to do in Liphook - especially in the major roads converging onto the centre of the village, is to have a good presence of stickers. If you drive out along Headley Road or London Road, you'll see how effective these stickers can be.

As to crossing points, I do think Hampshire County Council - I guess they are responsible for Highways in Liphook? - should have thought much more about the pedestrian's point of view when East Hampshire District Council gave permission for the building of Sainsbury's and the attendant housing increase.

The amount of vehicle movements in Liphook are far more than they were, say, the year before Sainsbury's opened.
I know there was a traffic study done - but we all know that consultants, paid by Sainsbury's - are not going to give us a report that would go against Sainsbury's!

Take a look at Headley Road, Portsmouth Road, Midhurst Road, Haslemere Road, London Road, every morning they have tailbacks, every evening they have tailbacks. It does not take a genius to work out that Sainsbury's + 100's of new houses = traffic problems.

What we need to do is be honest, admit there are problems, and work together as a community, to lobby the various public bodies to solve the problems and make Liphook as pleasant as possible for all of us to live in.
