Recommended Dog Boarding/Kennels? - Jay (29th Jan 2011 15:16:28)
We're loking for somewhere to leave our dog for a few days in April and wondered if anyone could recommend a professional who takes in dogs (rather than dog sitters coming to your home) or a decent kennels. The last time I used one was over 15 years ago (out at Fernhurst) and that's no longer there.
Obviously such an important member of the family needs to be well cared for in our absence so personal recommendations gratefully received.
By the way he's a 14 month collie x lab x complete nutcase that we rehomed in the summer (3rd and final home for him). So not a small dog and energetic but very friendly and affectionate.

Hi Jay,
We take our dog to Coles Kennels in Thursley. We've had him since he was 15 months old (he's 3 now) and he's as mad as a box of frogs! At Coles they have a record cards for all the dogs they look after with their personalities written down on and they always put dogs with other like minded dogs. They have an open area that the dogs run around in together and my dog loves it! The best time to get hold of Mr Cole (Pat) is between 9 and 10am on his mobile which is 07703332316. I hope this helps! All the best Debbie

Hello
I can thoroughly recommend Firhill Pet Hotel in Passfield. My son works there on a Saturday and all of the staff are so caring about all of the animals. I've seen all the kennels and they are spotlessly clean as are all the area around. I'd have no hesitation in putting my beloved Rocky in there.
Hope this helps.
Helen

I use Frensham Pond Kennels for our 1 year old labrador. She loves it there - they have about 5 plays outside in an exercise field with companions they pair them up with.
I would recommend going and having a look at a couple of places.

Our dog goes on a not quite daily basis to a brilliant place in Hammer who take in dogs for doggy day care. They have also had our dog when we've been away. They have dogs of their own and masses of outside space and the dogs are treated like one of the family. Rather than posting their contact details on here if you are interested I'm happy for the editor to pass on my details and i can give you their phone number.

Yes please Jane, if perhaps the Editor could put us in touch so that you could provide me with the phone number. If it's Louise S then I got her number from one of the local vets but had not got around to calling as I really wanted personal recommendations.
Thanks everyone that gave information about the kennels. We are going to go and have a look around.
