gospel hall application - helen (14th Jan 2011 - 17:55:09)
Please be aware that there is an amendment to the Gospel Hall application being discussed at the local liphook planning meeting this coming monday. I believe this means re-consideration of the whole application. Please attend the meeting again to give your view as it may get approved due to lack of substantial objections.

I too have just received an amendment notification. To object go to www.easthants.gov.uk. Click on the Planning Services link and then the link to View/comment. Planning application is 39366/017. To all that already have objected, the slight amendment may require seperate objection otherwise no comment will be seen as an endorsement. We could end up with a large scheme that no-one can or will use. Someone has already commented elsewhere that this could be a "change of use" scam.

I have just struggled through the Alternative Site Search Report. This seems to be a long hard-luck story which can be summed up as follows:
"We haven't been able to impose this 'gospel hall' on any other community and anyway, we can't afford to buy designated housing land so this means Liphook must accept it".
In my view, this document should be ignored. The application should be considered on its own merits - or lack of them - without reference to other sites which have no relevance to Liphook and its interests.
It is difficult to see what has changed in the amended plan; the car park layout has been altered but is much the same size. Other than that, the drawing has been 'prettied' up with the trees coloured in.
I think all of the objections that have previously been raised still stand.

If you agree that this application should be thrown out because it is the wrong type of building on this piece of land please send your objections in again and also please attend the meeting on this Monday 17th January 8pm.
I believe the applicant is trying to get this through by changing the application slightly hoping no one will notice. Unlike the lowsley farm development there have been no notices in the local paper and it is not under the planning applications in the Liphook Herald.
It has been made clear that very few people knew about the public consultation which was held in July as it was only in the paper on the same day, but they have never arranged another date. They will have very strong representatives’ at the meeting so we need to have lots of strong voices from local people against this application.
One of the government’s new proposals is that the local communities should have more say to local planning so let’s hope that our Parish council listen to us and strongly support us.

Having looked at their Gospel Hall in Farncombe I cannot believe that any of our Parish Council will approve this application.
The Parish Council are surely voted in by this Community to represent our interests - this hall would certainly not be in the interests of Liphook.

Dear Marian,
I cannot believe it either, however two Councillors did not vote against the application they apparently think it a good idea.
You probably need to write to Councillor Anna James and her colleague Councillor Newman and ask why they think its a good idea to have a Gospel Hall in Liphook. Please post your reply on the Web.
