Traffic lights
- AM (3rd Jan 2018  10:08:10)

Avoid driving into Liphook....there are four way traffic lights in the centre and it's taken me 30 mins to drive from my house in London Road to the centre of the village already!

This is BT doing work at the junction of Midhust and Haslemere Road. These two roads, and Portsmouth Roads, have their own sets of lights. London, Headley and Longmoor share the same sets of lights through the Square.

These lights are due to last till Friday. Unless you HAVE to drive to school it will be much quicker to walk unless you want to leave around 7.45 to get your child to school and want to arrive home at 10.30.

Just taken an hour from the avenue to 16 portsmouth road

3 roads into 1 then traffic lights absolutely awful arrangement for traffic

Which clown is responsible for the time settings on the temporary lights in the Square? This morning, it took me the best part of twenty minutes to progress from the Longmoor Road to the entry to the Portsmouth Road. Once I emerged from the Longmoor Road, I sat on the first roundabout for more than five minutes looking at a red light. What makes it all the more frustrating is that there were no workman anywhere in evidence, so for how long is this situation going to persist?

My wife has just been caught out by this making a trip to Sainsburys. Made worse by zero evidence of anyone actually doing any work, looks like they've set up and wandered off.

To those wondering "how long" according to the official website that says when work is being done and for how long - we have to put up with this till Friday (if not longer)!!

I have emailed Hampshire County Council to complain about this - while it is BT doing the work it is HCC who gave permission. I will not type the words I was thinking of about the person who allowed this nonsense of three roads with 1 light, and set the sequence to it goes Midhurst or Haslemere Road, Portsmouth Road, Midhurst or Haslemere Roiad, and then the Square?!

Do ring Hampshire County Council to complain about this to see if they can get something done!

Hi folks,

If you look on roadworks.org and search on Liphook you'll see it is indeed BT apparently inspecting ducting and laying new cable/fibre etc.

I'd suggest contacting Hampshire District Council and lodging a complaint about the traffic light phasing as they are often responsive and can escalate with the relevant company.

Not sure best place to do it online, looking at their highway problem reporting pages the one at roadenquiries.hants.gov.uk/roadproblems/... seems most relevant, certainly other people appear to have lodged complaints that way.

Once the schools start to go back tomorrow it'll get a whole lot worse!

The traffic lights are being removed as I speak. BT had booked slot via its contractor Morrison but no-one turned up to do any work. Hampshire. County Council ordered the lights to be removed and the poor guy who had set them up was only too happy to take them down.

It's just taken me 1 hour 10 minutes to get from the coop to Canada Way. There's a serious problem with the timings on the lights as the traffic was nowhere near as bad from other roads.

Let's hope the lights are up and running on Thurs when schools go back - may inspire a few lazy parents to ditch the car and use their legs! Think of the benefits - less pollution, less traffic and more exercise.

Most straight-forward way from Passfield to Canada Way was Bramshot, A3 Northbound, Sandy Lane, Devil's Lane and in ...
