£630 for a notice board?
- Katy (15th Dec 2010 - 21:53:37)

Blimey is it me - just read the parish council finance meeting recent minutes and note they have approved a new notice board costing in the region of £630. Seems a bit steep in the current climate. Have they got three quotes I wonder?

Also note they will give £500 to the Peak Centre for them to pay for a finance person to look at their accounts with the view to funding. Personally I would rather they gave the centre the £500 and let them carry on as they are.

I note they are concerned about salary costs at the centre, well I am sure it is much cheaper to run than similar local council run centres so I don't think they are in a position to comment. The number of volunteer drivers, helpers, carers etc is a credit to the centre and should be applauded not nit-picked over!

Well. Well done for attempting to understand the councils finances in the first place.

10 our of 10 for that.

If more people took an interest on how much was being spent, and for what, it would definitely be to the benefit of the parishioners.

What we really need is more parishioners to turn up at meetings and ask to know WHY. That is the only way to find out what is reasonable and what is not.
