Lonely this Xmas?
- PR (23rd Nov 2017 19:45:43)
My family and I wondered if there is anyone, out there, who is going to be on their own at Xmas and who would like to join our family lunch..?
We are a grown up family with no young children so Xmas is quite a sedate affair in our house so don’t expect it to be rowdy!
Any age, not just elderly, you are welcome.
And we don’t do gifts either, we just enjoy each other’s company and a few drinks.
Happy to meet up beforehand if anyone feels nervous.

Yes, we are Liphook.
I always over prepare and over cater - so don’t worry, I don’t need much notice as I will have enough anyway.
So if you don’t know til the last minute, it doesn’t matter.

I just read your thread and found myself with a tear in my eye. It's something my partner and I have often talked about, but you've actually done it. I am sure you have no idea how uplifting it is in this world of greed and selfishness to know there are people like you living in our village. Perhaps next year (we already have commitments this year) we could offer some help and this year maybe we could give a small donation towards your festivities. Let me know. By the way I volunteer at the Peak centre and I asked the managers there recently if any clients were alone at Christmas and apparently most spend it with family, but I'll ask again.
Thank God for people like you who restore my faith in human kindless. Love to hear from you.

I had thought that might be the case with the Peak centre. If people are in contact there, they’re already on someone’s radar, so are probably ok so I was hoping that people who are completely alone may contact me - hopefully there’s not many out there. We have had one brave ‘maybe’.
That’s very kind contribution offer but we are ok thank you - please don’t take that as rude, I certainly don’t mean it that way.

If you have a God (I'm afraid I don't) may it bless you. I hope you receive all the good things that your kindness deserves. Have a truly wonderful Christmas. Perhaps next year we can help others in the real Christmas spirit? John

Does he have a regular circuit? Having just cleared out my parents home, I have a stack of blankets, sleeping bag, duvets that I would love to get to homeless people now the nights are so cold. Anybody have any bright ideas?
[editor]Try Hope House run by Salvation Army in Portsmouth. They do a great job for the homeless of Portsmouth. Luckily there appears to be very few homeless people between us and Portsmouth.[/editor]

I know of this chap (from talkback) but don't know how to get hold of him.
If anyone chats to him, please do ask him for me.
