Iron Hill Woods - Mark (3rd Dec 2010 - 22:18:46) I just wondered what people thought if Iron Hill woods was sold, its a possibility! It is reported the Forestry Commission will be selling £100 million worth of our woods over the next 4 years, the government say they will protect public access but that doesn't mean you can park your car and then walk. There is a wood in Surrey sold by the FC that has been split up by the new owner and sold at auction to numerous private owners, the last lot is on sale next week in London. What if this happened to Iron Hill, how would this affect our dog walking? We struggle to get the police out to tackle trouble in the village so what chance the police enforcing our rights if a new land owner is stopping us walking in the woods? There is a petition Save our Forests: http://38degrees.org.uk/campaigns but better still I'm contacting our MP Damian Hinds damian.hinds.mp@parliament.uk asking him to appose any sales. We must protect our woods, they are ours for us all to enjoy. This is meant to be the greenest Government ever!
