A3 Closure
- Bill Mouland (2nd Nov 2017 - 11:52:33)

Just received from the Highways England contractor...

A3 Liphook (Hampshire) – Bridge Joint Replacement Work

I am writing to advise that Kier Highways, on behalf of Highways England, will be replacing the expansion joint of the bridge which carries the A3 over the River Wey, at Liphook (Hampshire). This work is required to ensure the integrity of the network, improve safety and provide safer journeys for the public.

In order to carry out the work as efficiently and safely as possible, we’ll need to fully close the A3 north and southbound carriageways between the Griggs Green and Liphook junctions overnight, between 10pm and 6am, as follows:

• Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 November* – closure of the northbound carriageway
• Wednesday 15 to Friday 17 November* – closure of the southbound carriageway

During the closures traffic will be diverted via Liphook (Longmoor Road and London Road), which has been approved by the local highways authority.

Confirmed dates for the closures will be displayed in advance on signs at the junction.

We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption during our work. If you have any questions, or if you’d like you know about our work please contact us on 0300 123 5000 or email info@highwaysengland.co.uk

*please be aware that these works have been carefully programmed but are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Yours faithfully

Kathryn Blofield
Communications Coordinator

Thanks for the information Bill.
This will be the first real test of the new accident creation zone otherwise known as the traffic calming scheme and roundabout on Longmoor Rd.
I sincerely hope the disorientated drivers forced off the A3 after driving at 70+ mph for many miles and slightly slowing to 60 after leaving the A3 (and who will be rushing to catch up lost time), do not crash into the woods or cars/lorries coming the other way, as they hit the first road narrowing point immediately after the 30mph limit starts. This scheme must have been designed by someone with a sense of humour or an amateur. If it wasn't so serious it would be funny.
