Neighbourhood Development Plan - Day 2
- Anna Leslie (1st Nov 2017 - 20:36:42)

Thank you to all of you who came along to the Neighbourhood Development Plan Design Forum today (Wednesday). Great to meet so many of you and to hear your ideas about how you want our village/town to grow/remain! More tomorrow (Thursday) at the Millennium Centre. 9:30am-4:30pm for registered presenters and 7:30pm-9:30pm for the Open Session, but please feel free to come along to all or any of it.

p.s. There’s cake! 🍰

Wanted to be there today, but didn't get home in time. Will try again tomorrow.

Is there going to be anything over the weekend for those only just traipsing home from work at 9 o'clock?

Re: Neighbourhood Development Plan - Day 2

I did try coming along this lunchtime but the front doors were locked and on one came to let me in. I know this thread said it is for registered presenters but that we were welcome to come along at any time, perhaps not it would seem.
I'll try again later but I am keen to know how much this is costing? I am assuming that the consultancy firm are charging us for this. Bearing mind we are struggling to pay for a bridge in Radford Park (circa £58,000!) I hope that this consultancy is either very reasonable or free!

Hi. Thank you for trying to join us. I think we must have been doing site visits when you came which is a real shame. Sorry you were unable to get in. But do come along tonight at 7:30pm and you will be able to see all the work that has been done so far.

Re: Neighbourhood Development Plan - Day 2
- typical person working hard to make a living (2nd Nov 2017 - 15:54:07)

If a consultancy firm has been brought in, then why would they do it for free?! Anyone running a business or being employed needs to be paid.

You know…. it's how most try to pay for homes, clothes and food for their family.

Why do so many people these days expect to get so much of everything for nothing, in particular when a service rather than a tangible solid object is being bought.

(No, I'm not a consultant, no I don't have anything to do with the neighbourhood plan, the parish council or anything else related to this exercise)

Re: Neighbourhood Development Plan - Day 2
- Ratepayer (2nd Nov 2017 - 16:11:24)

The cost is covered by the 13percent rise in our rates last year. At least, that what the Parish Council said when the rise was queried. They wanted £35,000 for it.

Thank you for you're ideas.

Yes swimming pools, more buses, more amenities, cycle lanes blah blah blah.

We'd love to but you know, no damned money!

Sorree!

But hey, we can offer you 5 new housing estates instead!

Thank you for you're views.

You have helped us complete the mandatory consultation process.

Couldn't have done it without you.

Having attended both days all day I am amazed at the very hard work that the consultant has put in and our volunteer steerage group and council members who have put in some very long hours to get this much needed plan underway for liphook. Well done to all of you.

Thanks for your replies everyone. 'Typical person', try not to injure yourself whilst getting down from your high horse. I was trying to get some information about costs and I did actually ask how much it would be and how reasonable the cost would be (or free) and I added that last bit in to see if I could provoke some interest in this subject so well done for jumping on that.

I am a self employed local person who has been involved with local sports facilities on a voluntary basis for many years so I am keen to get more such facilities into the ever expanding village. I also don't think it is unreasonable to ask how much this is all costing and who foots the bill. Still waiting for an exact cost from the NDP people.

As a community, it is important that we improve and increase the amount of these facilities available to the residents instead of just building lots more houses!

I am looking forward to the next presentation at the end of November when the views and responses of the residents will have been taken into consideration.

Any new development will have to pay for the new sports facilities. I was
impressed by the information given to the public by the chap from the SDNP, l was underwhelmed by the info from EHDC.

Thank you for a very informative presentation on Thursday evening. Thank you for all the volunteers too. A good choice of consultant - he seemed to be able to get a lot done in a short space of time.
