Snow ploughs???
- Barbara (2nd Dec 2010 - 08:30:54)

Hi there.

Just a question, as I'm slightly baffled, but does the Council have no access whatsoever to a snow plough of any description?

I can understand not wanting to waste grit as the snow fall is too heavy for that right now, but I find it amazing that we haven't had sight nor sign of a snow plough overnight or this morning.

(I'm not trying to open up a can of worms here - I'm just curious - although I can appreciate the immense frustration a lot of local people must be feeling right now)

I haven't ventured out yet today, but I do know that in January a number of snow ploughs were seen in the village so I would imagine they are out there somewhere.

Purely selfishly, the longer the council take to clear the roads the better - I can't get to work!

Hi,

I have just seen on the news one has crashed badly on the A3 at Petersfield so that may explain one missing plough.........

Hopefully those involved are all ok.

I thought the crash on the A3 was a gritting lorry?

I did see some last year, only after a couple of days though, they have to do the A roads first don't they?

Think you are right about the one on the A3......

Only A roads being ploughed as a priority at the moment.

A snow plough did go up the Portsmouth Road this afternoon, but of course could only clear parts of the road as there seems to be all sorts of traffic parked on the road today which I don't think belongs to any of the residents as most of us have drive ways, biggest joke is that one of the vans is displaying a tax disc dated 2009 should it be on the road, lets hope nobody skids and hits the van as I don't believe you can have valid insurance if you don't have a valid road tax.

I spotted a snow plough going up Headley Road this afternoon that was just about skimming the snow on the road, not much good really.
Has anyone travelled to Alton via Worldham hill? Is it clear?

We've had one round on the Sainsburys estate this afternoon, although didn't look like a council one, think it may have been the one that was at Sainsburys this morning, we've been here 10 years and its the first time one's been round.

Hey Ho!! here we go again, we have the same problem every year, i've lived in Liphook for over 30 years, nothing changes, my Daughter lives in Manchester, she skies into work and then back home again,
Maybe the goverment could learn from other countries such as Norway on how to deal with this problem, we live in hope.
Keep warm, Keep save everyone.
