Christmas Decorations
- Paul Robinson (1st Dec 2010 - 22:59:00)

Hats off to the guys who were seen in the village this afternoon at the top of a cherry picker hoisting the Christmas lights in snow flurries and biting cold.

I will appreciate them all the more for knowing that they were erected in truly apalling conditions.

Hi Paul
Yes those guys are amazing and thanks also to the members of Liphook in Bloom who last Sunday spent the morning cleaning the decorations, replacing the bulbs and replacing the tinsel where necessary. It is something we do every year and as with the planting of the bulbs and plants and all the other work we do we also have fun doing it so if anyone wants to join our team please contact us at liphookinbloom.co.uk
PS Sorry the lights havn't gone up in Station Road yet but this is something the team do and obviously will happen once the snow clears.

To coin a phrase and it is quite poignant with what has gone on this year, General Kitchener voiced "Your Country Needs You" and how true, but in this case its "Your Village Needs You" and to be more precise Liphook in Bloom needs you.

I am moved to write to Talk Back to not ask but plead with the good people of Liphook to come forward and give some time to help keep our Village a pleasure to see. Most of the people who do the giant size of the work our getting if not old but are finding more difficult to give more of their time so they need more helpers, its not asking for alot of time, but more numbers spread over the maintaining, watering and the planting of the Village would ease the pressure.

The alternative is with the lack of numbers we could see the end of Liphook in Bloom. So to the Good People of Liphook what would you like to see?????.

Would applying for people doing community service be an option?

Perhaps it would be helpful to outline what key responsibilities are and time involved for potential green fingered volunteers (believe me , you don't want me ..... I can kill any plant in record time!)
