Am I a 'local'?
- Paul A (1st Oct 2017 - 08:53:16)

1st October just 53 years ago - give or take a couple of hours - my wife and I plus one small son arrived in Liphook. We had bought newly built 28 Hazelbank Close for about £3400. Not there now but still in the now big village. The question is can we be regarded as true 'locals' yet?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Unless you were born here the true locals will never accept you, you will always be unwelcome, of course you have contributed to what was a lovely self contained and insular community into becoming a welcoming open minded that likes outsiders and corrupted the spirit of the place.

I do not understand why it is length of time that makes you a " local?"
Living in any locality makes you a "local" to that area unless you are
planning a transient life! I think it is more important to be a good neighbour wherever you live.

They used to say 30 years to be a local - so you have been a local for some time!

Sorry Paul the answers NO. Must have lived in liphook from birth to be a true local. But i'm sure you qualify as an honorary local.
