parking in chiltley way
- cg (30th Sep 2017 - 14:14:26)
as you turn into The Berg estate chiltley way from the midhurst road,
more & more people are taking advantage of parking their cars , and leaving them for short periods.
today they're were 7 cars parked , and owners going across the road obviously to lunch time drinks in midhurst road.
difficult turning into the estate. - shouldn't the residents complain ?

Why? There are no parking restrictions here!

It sounds like a one off situation to me, Unless cars are blocking driveways or badly parked, I cannot see a problem, it is far worse in the Avenue or Canada Way! You can only restrict places to residents only
parking if you have a road privately paid for by the residents, and also
then all maintenance costs are paid for by residents as is all maintenance of the grass cutting on the verges etc.

There may not be parking restrictions but drivers should still observe the Highway Code and refrain from parking within 10 metres of a junction.
This week for 2 or 3 days, a Landrover was parked far too close to the junction with Midhurst Road causing real problems for cars turning left into the Berg estate as it was near impossible to see cars coming from the other direction.
It's simple common sense. Unfortunately the driver of that vehicle didn't have any.

Parking near junctions (Rule 243) 'DO NOT stop or park opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space'.

Noticed these vehicles today too, causing a potentially dangerous situation when turning into the estate from the Midhurst Road. Can understand commuters are struggling for places to park but the Landrover in particular was dangerously parked during this week.

This is also a problem in Tower Road, at the junction with Headley Road. Vehicles are often parked far too close to the junction and are a hazard for drivers turning left into Tower Road.

.... and the residents of Forest Lane Close who park smack-bang on the junction with Longmoor Road (both side, usually a blue Renault Clio). Unlit, parked in the junction, usually facing the wrong way .... selfish.

Yawn....someone had a lunch party and their guests parked there. The residents can be a bit stuffy about road parking ;)

I saw some of the guests on Saturday morning, non of them appeared to be disabled. They could have parked properly and walked to the venue, rather than park dangerously.
The main point is that too many people are parking dangerously close to road junctions.

Malthouse Meadows has people parking right on the junction using the rec.
