A3
- John wilson (26th Sep 2017 - 15:35:03)

The highways agency are closing A3 for 3 weeks at night, from griggs green to liphook junction, so all traffic wii use london rd & longmoor rd. this will test the new roundabout if they ever finish it. 76 miles of M1 with 200 bridges built in18 months. Longmoor roundabout 5 months sofar, ? Get your earplugs out if you live on these roads.😨

When is the diversion in place? I've tried to look but without any luck!

Many thanks
Karen

I checked the Highways Agency website for A3 works, and there seem to be a number of individual nights when sections north or south are closed.

I couldn't find anything that suggested a longer closure, or more regular diversions through Liphook at night. Maybe the OP could share their original source?

Either way, it would be interesting to see how the new magic roundabout on Longmoor Road survives even temporary diversions. Probably just me, but the pinch points on the approach seem at odd angles and very poorly differentiated from the kerb.

See page 23 last weeks herald, i think 14 oct 2200- 0600. Not sure if both directions at same time.

Has anyone realised that the A3 will be closed and therefore diverting all traffic through Liphook on CARNIVAL NIGHT?
The Longmoor Road is effectively shut from 5.00pm and re-opens around 10.30pm and the whole of the middle of the village will be full of people revelling and 'bonfiring' . Error!!

Jrnny do you realise the closure is not till 10pm, after the roads in Liphook reopen, ERROR

I live on Longmoor rd, close to the new roundabout and looked on the highways agency website and can't see anything about any closures. Petersfield yes, tomorrow night and in October but not Liphook. No evidence of anything and if there was they would have to inform the local council who would in turn let the residents know. Nothing's happening so don't worry. I should worry as I'm the one who would have articulated lorries rumbling past!

Sounds great. Should boost the attendance numbers and a few more vehicles to the procession.

The highways site only suggests that one lane at a time on the A3 will be closed at each time:

roads.highways.gov.uk/roadworks-search/...

Also, could the Carnival committee post the schedule of road closures for the evening of October 29th sometime soon please? Thank you!

Re. the carriage ways being closed one at a time. If you look at Page 23 in last weeks Herald, Highways England says both carriageways." The effect of the Order would be to authorise the overnight closure of a) both carriageways of the A3 between Griggs Green Interchange and Liphook Interchange (B2131)"

Also despite the roads being re-opened around 10.00pm on Carnival night, people are still meandering out of the pubs and down the road between The Square and Radford. Interesting with heavy vehicles thundering through.
