portsmouth road parking
- dave (14th Sep 2017 - 13:27:26)

I think it is about time the council put double yellow lines up to station road, the congestion caused by the london set parking all over the place is really not good.
Not only do temperatures run high with people not giving way but it wont be long before there is an accident.
There is one black nissan navarra who parks almost opposite the post office .... looks like its been abandoned...
Would they have all parked there when the old A3 came through the village ?
Would all the people who park there like it if people parked all over their village ....
Something needs to be done...
London set listen up !!

I agree. I use the station but park in the station carpark. Double yellow lines should be put down as the parking along the road is crazy and getting worse. I don't enjoy the risk of my own car being damaged having to squeeze past cars parked on a road not wide enough and too busy to cope. Some double yellow lines on Headley Road would not go a miss either. As a resident of the Village parking is a nightmare.

Or you could put the yellow lines there and people drive at 50 miles an hour and kill people ..it's cheap traffic calming however annoying

I live on Portsmouth Road, and although the cars parked there do cause some congestion, it is only for a small period of the day, and as a previous poster has said, it does allow for some cheap traffic calming. I also have no problem with the black Nissan parking where they do, they aren't parking illegally.

Many children walk down Portsmouth Road to get to the schools in the village. If people drove down there at 50+ mph it would become very dangerous. Even though there is a 30mph speed limit, without the cars parked there people would speed.

If you are going to drive that way, I suggest you add a couple of minutes to your journey.

There is nothing calming about cars parked on either the Headley Road or Portsmouth Road ! It is as dangerous as speeding -chance would a fine thing !!
More like add a stressful 15mins to your journey time in rush hour.
Frustration leads to people making rash, irresponsible and dangerous overtaking manoeuvres -at speed - with little regard to who has priority.
Double yellow lines all the way, I say.
