Liphook Rec kids pitches a Disgrace!!!
- Peter Shepherd (14th Nov 2010 - 18:54:22)
After having two weeks off for no reason, my son was looking forward to a game of footbal for Liphook under 8's on Saturday.
I rang the manager to check times etc, when he imformed me that the matche was off, this was 2.45 the day before the game,I was a bit shocked as it only started to rain at midday and that was fairly light rain.
I was even more baffled when I went to check this out myself, the pitch was perfect, almost hard in most areas.
I phoned the manager up and he informed me the decision was made at 12.00 which beggars belief as it only started raining at that time.
I know the forecast wasn't great and it did rain for most of the evening, but At 9.00am on Saturday at what would have been kick off time, I went along to the Rec to check the state of the pitch and although it was abit softer it was perfectly playable, the mens game at the rec on the same day was played.
The point im making is if the match is called off for no reason what chance have the lads playing on it this winter, as I think some of the powers that be at liphook have forgot its a WINTER game.
I spoke to Mark the manager to show my discontent, he informed me the ground is owned by the council and we have to play by their rules.
Im not playing by anyones rules if young kids are missing football when the pitches are perfectly fine!

i walked my dog in the rec this morning and the pitches were all churned up it looked like someone had been playing on them unless that was just training on sunday as you said if the men could play it seems silly the kids couldnt!

The young ones games were called off as the amount of rain we had all week.
The reason the main pitch was played on was that the drainage is better.
It was also stated if you wanted to play on it and rip it to bits and not play on it afterwards for a few weeks so be it, I dont know why you haven't played for two weeks?

PT
When the game was called off the pitch was perfect,At the time of Kick off it was fine, football is a winter sport.
If pitches get a bit churned up in the course of a game wheres the problem, their not playing snooker on it the week after.!!!
Regards Peter
