Portsmouth Road Sewer Flooding
- N (5th Sep 2017 - 17:05:07)

Hi there,
Does anyone have any advice regarding the frequent sewer floods which occur in the Portsmouth Road. Happens every 6 months or so.
I call Thames Water who come out and unblock it each time, but they claim they can't fix it as it's people putting things down that which they shouldn't - oil and rags - so they claim.
I would prefer that they would resolve it somehow: larger pipes etc (I'm no expert but there must be other options). Many more houses are being built so one can only assume it will increase in frequency.
Any advice on how to take this further/deal with Thames Water etc would be much appreciated.

Tricky one and I suspect not easily resolved. It's well known that the drains at that end of the village are at maximum capacity, it was one of the principal reasons that the planning applications for Bohunt Manor got turned down. I also suspect that Thames Water will not be inclined to do anything that involves cost to them.
Perhaps making a case to environmental agencies is the way forward, if there are public health concerns then maybe Thames Water would be compelled to address the problems

Does often whiff along there

The constant stink and over flowing sewage is pretty much the worst thing about living on the road. Can never have my front windows open because of it, they have absolutely no interest in improving or changing the pipes but adding a few hundred more homes is no hassle! Bloody stupid really
