Does anyone know what the gunfire that can be heard from Longmoor Road is? It's been going on for the last couple of days on and off.

Well it is gun range - it will no doubt be the army preparing to protect all of us - ( on what is after all what is army land is what it is owned for )

Really S?
This made me chuckle, do you actually live in the area?
Have you not noticed the helicopters and the tanks firing as well?

I also heard it this afternoon and it definitely wasn't from the Ranges, it sounded much more local near Bohunt School.
Re: Gunfire - S (4th Sep 2017 - 18:38:33)
Have lived here many years and it doesn't sound like the usual gunfire. It's a different sort of banging.
Re: Gunfire - sc (4th Sep 2017 - 20:08:10)
I heard this earlier today (about 1.30pm) when I popped into Liphook Infant School. Sounded like a shotgun going off conuinually behind the Junior School.
Definitely not the ranges.

There are quite a few trigger happy people round here who go around shooting foxes and other wildlife. Soon be pheasant season. It gets noisier then.

Is it pheasant season? I think they shoot in Westlands copse which backs on to Bohunts sports field.
Re: Gunfire - Slimetime (5th Sep 2017 - 08:33:33)
It was definitely the unmistakable sound of shotguns on Sunday afternoon (17.00/17.20) coming from the fields next to Bohunt.

Pheasant shooting starts October 1st. But people round here go lamping and shooting at any time of the year. As I said there are those that are not happy until they dispose of the local fox.
Army firing and gun shots in fields are very common round here and you do get used to it.

Rabbit shooting probably.
Re: Gunfire - Mavis (5th Sep 2017 - 16:06:16)
In the field on the Portsmouth Rd (opposite Station Road ) They are often Lamping with dogs late at night. Hunting rabbits. If it's daytime I guess it is with guns to control rabbits on Bohunt Estate. Or it could have been someone tinkering with old bangers tuning them up to misfire on overrun like the local tyre screeching spotty herbots do :)
