Dementia daycare - Caroline (6th Aug 2017 - 06:33:28) I am considering registering with social services and possibly CQC to provide dementia day care at my house. I have many years experience in the social care sector both "hands on" and management level . I know when my dad had dementia I would have loved to have had somewhere he could spend some time with someowho understood his needs, would take him to places he still enjoyed going and help him maintain the skills he still had ( and give me us some desperately needed respite) Too many families feel a care home is the only option as they become exhausted and frustrated trying to support relatives with very little practical support available. I really just want to get an idea if this is a service that may be needed in Liphook and surrounding areas? Thanks

Re: Dementia daycare - Gilly van Oppen (6th Aug 2017 - 07:35:03) There is an amazing daycare centre in Haslemere which has just reopened with new funding. Maybe worth talking to them to gauge demand etc. Good luck with your idea. I wish there were more carers with dementia experience to visit people in their own homes
