Portsmouth Road Parking
- k (4th Aug 2017 - 09:09:46)

Noticed on my way to work appox.8.50am 1 of the vehicles parked on Portsmouth Road the Red MPV - that parks regularly on the end as you go from roundabout - has been side swiped - mirror damaged - DEBRIS IN ROAD from mirror - I managed to avoid the debris but be careful - wouldn't want in to cause punctures to other vehicles !

This vehicle has not moved for at least 3 days, and the wing mirror was off 3 days ago, where it is parked on a pinch point of the road it makes seeing to cross the road Fletchers Field side very difficult, another accident waiting to happen !

We are in for more and more of this.

All of the flats and houses approved are being built with not enough parking provision for cars. The new owners have no alternative but to park on the road.

More money in the pockets of the building companies - more anxt for locals.

Whenever a planning application is submitted in an area with little/unreliable public transport - lack of car parking should be challenged.

Some people are just idiots, however - parking in stupid inconsiderate place. Parking in a pinch point and reducing visibility for other road users is stupid and was an accident waiting to happen.

Has anyone reported it to the police? The debris won't get cleared up otherwise.

After numerous phone calls this morning, and no one being able to help, I have made police aware, the vehicle also has no tax or mot since June! I have re phoned traffic enforcement officer, but they have to go through a procedure first, so if it is abandoned it won't be gone soon, and it really is in a dangerous position !

Thanks Sheila - at least the police are aware -

If it doesn't have tax or an MOT, report it to the council, hopefully, they will come and tow it away

If enough of us bombard the council website, they might get rid of it quicker (we can live in hope)

Have reported to the council enforcement officer, so if the rest of you report it as well hopefully it will get removed quicker, I would hate for someone to get hurt because of how and where it is parked !

Dawn - in the politest possible and constructive way, you mean "angst" as opposed to "anxt."

Finish work early today - so parked by post office - walked back & picked up most of debris - couldn't do anything about the mirror pieces - bat at least less- likely to damage any responsible car drivers at least 4 substainal bits some were quite sharp -
