I would not recommend the River Wey at Farncombe/Godalming . Having lived next to the boathouse for a number of years I can tell you that under the murky water lies lots of long weeds that can and will tangle around your ankles .
Be VERY CAREFUL! also u can catch nasty diseases from the river water .

I was always told it was not safe to swim in Waggoners Wells. Could have just been a ploy to keep us out of the water though!

Every Thursday the Godalming Youth Canoe Club meets at the Wharf and kayaks/canoes on the river there. Usually at the end - on a warm summer's night, the kids end up in the water. The club tries to keep the bit there clear of junk and if they spot anything untoward do try to remove it.
There are there from 5 - 7 on THursdays.
It's Godalming Staycation this week too - so free kayaking trips on Saturday for those that are interested.

i would not recommend Waggoners i was dog walking there last week and three children were swimming in the first pond and the smell was terrible when i mentioned this to the parents they just told the children to keep there mouthes closed i dread to think what deceases they might pick up
