Photocopying
- Dawn Hoskins (31st Jul 2017 - 11:35:53)

Cheapest place to get photocopying done?

Or - can any kind companies volunteer to do some photocopying for me - perhaps in return for a Deaf Awareness Training Session for your staff?

Please let me know - I need some copies today (Monday)

I've used Petersfield library for photocopying before. But it looks like Liphook Library is open 2-5pm today.

Website says photocopying fees are:

Type A4 A3
Black and white 10p 20p
Colour 40p 80p

I was really hoping to be inundated with calls from businesses saying I could print some stuff in return for training.

(nothing happened).

Time we have - money we don't have

Please ask any local business owners that you know! Being Deaf Aware and having workplace training under your belt for your staff is a big benefit and is very good for marketing and PR purposes.

Perhaps you should have started your post with the word "free" instead of "cheapest.

Good idea Penny.
I'll open a new thread with a better title.

I went to Bordon library and they charged 10p per sheet.
We needed 25 copies of our manual which we give out free to raise Deaf awareness. The guide is extensive and has 18 pages.

I was £50 quid down when I left!

Hi Dawn - my office is based in Bristol and if you need help again in the future and can put up with a reasonable turnaround time (like weeks rather than days), I'll be glad to help. You shouldn't be having to spend what money you have on photocopying.

Ed, could you pass on contact details? thanks

You could have asked Mr Blackwell if he could have done you a deal as it was for a charity.

Re: Photocopying
- Dawn Hoskins (4th Aug 2017 - 12:06:12)

Chris, I've been to Blackwells before inquiring about various folders, binders etc. I explained we were a not-for-profit raising Deaf Awareness etc He showed me presentation wallets and wanted to charge 5 times more than I bought them online for.

I've tried all the obvious places - that's why I thought an 'exchange of services' might be a good proposition.

I have a binding machine (kindly donated by the Stackpoles) so it is only the photocopying that is really an issue. Paying £50 for 25 information booklets is too much. It doesn't represent the cost of the paper or the toner.

If you know of a business that would like Deaf Awareness and BSL training please let me know.

I bought a rather large Dictionary of British Sign Language/English many years ago and wonder if it is of any use to your organisation. Very good condition and free if you would like it.

Yes please
Another copy would always come in handy, we do sometimes get asked to lend.
It's a weighty tome but a handy dictionary - the only one of its type if you are talking of the British Deaf Association one.

Hi Dawn

Have you thought about buying an all-in-one printer and even if you don't use it for printing from your computer, you can use it just standalone as a photocopier.

Ebuyer (ebuyer.com/store/...) have some starting at around £40 - ok you will need to buy paper and ink periodically but I'd wager that it will work out at much less than 10p per page (plus you don't have to travel to Bordon to do it)

Re: Photocopying
- Dawn Hoskins (6th Aug 2017 - 10:27:05)

Hi Keith
Yes we have a good printer and scanner, but the ink cartridges cost about £50 each.

Our Information manuals (We have 3 slightly different ones for NHS workplaces, normal business.organsiation and the public sector) are about 15 pages long.

When we go to give talks there are generally 15 or so people there so we need 300 pages printed each time.

We give talks frequently, about once per month, so it is too much for a home printer to deal with.

Ed? Perhaps I can put links to the manuals up here? People might find them interesting and aslo feel more Deaf aware after reading them?

Printer manufactures deliberately inflate the price of printer cartridges, but you can refill them yourself for about 10% the price. Google "cartridge refill kit".
