Dont answer the door tonight! Rude ex-offender selling door to door - Jane (19th Jul 2017 - 20:09:00) Sainsburys estate has just been visited by a very aggressive foul mouthed gentleman with several tattoos and baseball cap carrying heavy holdall with his wares. Made no attempt to show ID but swore at me and my neighbours when politely declined any purchases.

Initially very nice guy with a story of being ex military and 'just one more sale' needed today. I politely declined and it got nasty instantly. I didn't catch the organisation or charity name that might be involved - if anyone does, could they post it here please?

Rude ex-offender selling door to door - Jane (19th Jul 2017 - 22:03:56) Normally they hold their ID to show but no-one seems to have reported that this was offered which makes me even more worried that its a bit of a ruse to suss out our homes. Definitely a Northern accent, he was shouting he had done 5 military tours and was carrying a very large black holdall Has similarities to this [express.co.uk/news/uk/...c] We will definitely be tightening up on security especially during hot weather when its easy to forget. Tried to report to 101 but its too busy so will do tomorrow

Rude ex-offender selling door to door - Lac (20th Jul 2017 - 09:25:08) I had a similar experience last year from a man answering the earlier description (with a Geordie accent). Extremely aggressive language when I told him I never buy anything from the doorstep. Police reckoned it was ex offender (?). I pointed out that door to door selling wasn't the most intelligent occupation for an ex con, especially if it was for stealing! However, no one should have to experience rude/aggressive behaviour on their own doorstep, so please report to the police. When I rang them last year, they had several reports of the same persons behaviour and were taking action. It's summer again and I wonder if he is attached to casual work e.g. agriculture, fairground etc. By the way, if its the same people again, they work in a group and only one of them, as described, is aggressive

They said it seems like it is the Nottingham Knockers who come down for the week from the North to sell door to door. They will be covering the surrounding area for the rest of their week. Best to warn local friends if you have experienced similar aggressive manner. It would help if you have experienced an unpleasant interaction to add weight to the case by reporting on either 101 or emailing postmaster@hampshire.pnn.police.uk giving full details quoting incident number 17072000220 so they can take it up with the organisation.

Re: Dont answer the door tonight! Rude ex-offender selling door to door - NC (20th Jul 2017 - 16:52:42) Canada estate visited at 8pm on Wednesday. Very rude bloke, quite insistent but then verbally abused when still declined the cloths etc. No ID presented.

Read the link that Jane posted as it does explain a lot, selling wares is the last thing on their minds.....
