rug cleaning
- Dawn Hoskins (16th Oct 2010 - 16:26:53)

Are there any local rug cleaning specialists about?

Cat has had an accident!

Try Ambassador cleaners, we have used them for carpet cleaning and they are excellent.

Good luck

Hi Dawn,

If it's a pee problem, bicarbonate of soda is the answer!! Rub in lots, leave for an hour or two, and hoover off...keep repeating until the smell has gone. It's the only thing I've found that actually works.

If the problem is poo...then Vanish Power foam carpet cleaner does the job. I've got 2 elderly cats so have had plenty of experience :D

Yes Enieda,
Pee. Poor cat is so confused these days.
Will it be ok on silk though?

I don't want to damage the rug - it is my Husband's favourite one.

Well Dawn I've used bicarbonate on a quite expensive wool rug without any problems....It's only a dry powder after all and just 'absorbs' the smell.

You could always try it on a small patch to see if it affects the pile.

Hi Dawn

I had this problem once when a stray tom got in the house, and I found Neutrodol powder absolutely excellent. I spinkled it all over the carpet, left it on for the day whilst I was out a work, then hoovered it off in the evening. Only had to do it the once as the smell went totally first time.

Good luck!

thank you all.
I will try ambassador as today I have another two rugs to add to the pile. . . . . !

Cat now being kept in the boot room, it is still big enough for her to wander about - but no rugs!!

Sprinkle pepper onto the areas the cat is messing on, when it returns to find its cent the pepper gets up its nose and deters from spraying!
Good Luck

A good web site

And of course keep your cat off your head ....

Cheers, Finchie
(I bet you've missed me like a hole in the head !)
