Try-a-Tri event in Liphook: 18 June
- Dreams Come True (8th Jun 2017 - 11:18:59)
Are you a try-athlete? Liphook-based national children’s charity, Dreams Come True, are urging all budding sports stars and enthusiasts to sign up to the annual Try-a-Tri event in Liphook.
Tri-High Multi-Sports Club - the triathlon club for Liphook and the surrounding area - will welcome the local community on 18 June to have a go at a Triathlon (options to suit all ages / abilities) involving swimming, cycling and running for children and adults. The family friendly triathlon series, which will take place at Highfield School in Liphook, is open to all to ‘give it a tri’ and the deadline for entry is Wednesday 14 June.
Barney Gray, Founder and Chairman of Tri-High Multisports Club said: “There will be plenty of options and choices on the day – whether you choose to swim, bike and run, or just do one or two of the disciplines. The point is to have fun, while raising money for a worthwhile cause.”
Entry is £10 and a percentage of the proceeds will go to Dreams Come True, the charity that serves the whole of the UK with the simple mission to make dreams come true for children with serious and life-limiting conditions. Over the last 29 years, the charity has fulfilled the dreams of more than 5000 children and young people to meet their heroes, enjoy amazing experiences, visit special places and more.
Community Fundraiser for Dreams Come True, Yvette Copping said “We are delighted that Barney and his team at Tri-High are supporting Dreams Come True. Without the support of the community and volunteers we would be unable to fulfil the dreams of children and young people both locally and nationally. We are currently actively looking for new volunteer members for our local development group, please see our website for more information”.
Fernhurst Primary School’s staff, students and parents are among some of the first to sign-up to the challenge. A BBQ will mark the end of the event, with the opportunity to picnic in the school grounds afterwards.
Barney continued: “This is a wonderful opportunity for all ages and abilities to come and have a go at a triathlon and fundraise at the same time – you will be inspired, you will be successful and you will be keen to do more!”
