Churchyard
- malcolm (8th Jun 2017 - 09:39:57)

Have just been rebuked for using a battery operated strimmer to tidy the border of a grave at Bramshott Churchyard as apparently this is "Not Allowed".

Can anyone let me know if this is correct or just a couple of old ladies with nothing else to worry about.

I don't know if it's the law, but cemeteries are supposed to be quiet reflective places, a noisy strimmer is going to ruin the atmosphere, and it would be even worse if several people decided to use noisy items. Imagine if a funeral service was going on.

Rubbish, wasn't it noisy when they used to cut the grass with motor mowers?

Surely, people would use their common sense and wouldn`t use strimmers, mowers when there is a funeral going on anyway. The noise of the machines wouldn`t disturb anyone - lovely to see a tidy graveyard.

If everybody brought a strimmer along it would be a bit much. For a small border you could try a pair of shears or large scissors. Strimmers are the most horrible and often misused noisy garden implements ever invented!

Strim, strim strim every Sunday morning, easy weeding without discrimination, yes you, my neighbours!

Sorry, I digress!
