TV signal
- Alan (10th Oct 2010 - 20:34:49)

Is it just me or are we all suffering from no signal on Freeview channels ?

BBC channels are the only ones visible. I use the Basingstoke (Hannington) transmitter.

No problems, over Malthouse Meadows way, Alan. Hope you've got your signal back!

Still very poor Freeview signal from the Hannington transmitter. That's about 13 hours since the problem started !

I live on the Headley Road too....strangely enough, although we didn't have any problems with getting Freeview last night, our analogue signal was very poor indeed!!!

Re: TV signal
- jo herridge (11th Oct 2010 - 17:41:56)

I'm not sure if my problem is related but I have had problems with freeview for a number of weeks now on and off. The problem is a bit similar to what happens if a dvd is scratched where it jumps and pauses. Then it will cut out then will be ok again for a while. It has been off since approx half 7.30pm last night and its still not working now

you are suffering from the same problem as all of us that use the Hannington transmitter

Try this link -http://www.ukfree.tv/shutdowndetail.php?tx=SU527568.
It would appear that they are carrying out enginnering work this week,at the Basingtoke (hannington) transmitter that may affect the signal.

HANNINGTON transmitter - Over the next week Hannington main transmitter: TV (analogue) Possible weak signal, TV (digital) working normally, Radio (analogue) working normally, Radio (digital) working normally.

Re: TV signal
- Lynda (12th Oct 2010 - 21:18:54)

I live in Malthouse Meadows and I have had no digital signal for about 3 days, and the analogue signal is awful

Re: TV signal
- Brudget (13th Oct 2010 - 09:57:36)

We are having the same problem on freeview, cannot get ITV1, ITV2, Channel 4, Five and several others. It is all available on the internet though if you have access. We are on the Headley Road too.

Re: TV signal
- Doreen Lawrence (13th Oct 2010 - 20:00:25)

Ours went haywire on Saturday in time for the x factor. Was like it most of the weekend on ITV channels, then on Monday night the announcer on ITV1 apologised for the bad reception over the weekend and blamed 'weather conditions'. That's ok then ...

Re: TV signal
- Deadly (14th Oct 2010 - 13:50:48)

Congratulations Doreen,

Couldn't have come at a better time for you, maybe they can plan an ITV blackout every weekend before X Factor starts to return once all the repeats and spin off programmes have finished on Sunday night!!

Re: TV signal
- Bridget (14th Oct 2010 - 18:26:30)

If you are still suffering from loss of freeview signal on several channels, as we are, there is a free website www.tvcatchup.com where you can watch all the freeview channels. Have tried it and it seems to work well.

Re: TV signal
- jo herridge (15th Oct 2010 - 13:35:30)

good idea to watch programmes online but the only disadvantage to this that I found out is that if you want to regularly watch online then it can push you over the limit for your broadband. I had to up my broadband package as they said I have regularly gone a bit over my download limit and although it wasnt by much but if it was anymore i would have to upgrade. To avoid the hassle I just upgraded there and then.

Re: TV signal

We have had the same problem, we live at Griggs Green, and we did get information that it was due to the high pressure over U.K.

- Nick Hancock (15th Oct 2010 - 20:24:48)

When we first all got our digiboxes we were told that digital was unavailable here because we were our local relay station was the Bexley Hill transmitter and that was not supplying a digital signal. Most people managed to get a signal from Hannington but strictly we were supposed to be out of range. I suspect that if anything interferes with the signal, we in Liphook will be the first to lose it.

The message about engineering works for the next week is still there - a shame there's no date on it as it could be ancient!

Re: TV signal
- Bridget (21st Oct 2010 - 20:10:00)

Wahoo... normal service has been resumed on the Headley Road tonight... can now watch all the free view channels again for the first time in a couple of weeks.

Re: TV signal
- Bridget (22nd Oct 2010 - 14:57:46)

Short lived ...... all gone again today, no itv 1 or 2, no channel 4 or channel 5, or any of the other channel 4 related channels. What is going on!!!

Hi Bridget, I have checked reception from Hannington and it seems to be OK, you problem might only be affecting you. Do you know which transmitter you are pointing at?

Re: TV signal
- liz (22nd Oct 2010 - 17:08:17)

We experienced the problems mentioned. Turned out our aerial booster wasn't working and probably hadn't been for ages but that wasn't an issue until the signal was very weak. Got the booster replaced and now all OK.

Re: TV signal
- Bridget (22nd Oct 2010 - 18:00:51)

We are pointing towards the Hannington transmitter, nothing has changed here, we have a booster - I think we may need to do some further investigation at home if nobody else is having problems.

Re: TV signal
- Bridget (25th Oct 2010 - 17:57:25)

Ah ha.....a leaky roof didnt help!!! tv aerial rewired by a cunningly clever husband, and all is working well!
