BT Scam Call

Called today by a prerecorded message purporting to be BT needing to speak to the account holder for my number - this in fact was taken by my answer machine.
I phoned BT on a number from my bill asking if they had tried to contact me for any reason - answer definite "No"
Dialling 1471 established the call came from 0800 169 1608 - this number is exposed on Google as a scam.
The operator at BT added they have had an escalation of scam calls over the last few days.

I had a similar call last week from someone posing as Talktalk. They sound so convincing too. I never get involved with these people.
