Speeding,Hunters Chase
- JS (10th Oct 2010 - 19:18:00)
I live in Hunters Chase, today l blew my top,to the point of taking the law into my own hands and trying my hardest to make sure a young idiot tasted hospital food, this person decided to drive down our road at what must have at a speed of 50 mph plus,my children along with others play in this road,he did not care, when l confronted him, which really pi---- me off.l had to walk away, but was so angry l went back again, but again l managed to walk away.
Years ago there was only one answer to this problem, but we cannot do this, because then we become the naughty boys.
I would have rang the police, but we all know what a waste of time they are.
Please could someone give me a idea of what route l should have taken, because l am fast running out of ideas,

I am guessing that if you approached in that manner you exacerbated the situation. when things like this happen it is usually just thoughtlessness and not done with deliberate intent.
If a reasonable approach had not worked I would have taken all the details of the car and a surreptitious photo of the driver and handed it over to the police, if they get repeat complaints they do take action
If it occurs again I would just approach with a smile and a reasonable request to slow it down a lil' due to kids being about.
Wanting somebody to be eating hospital food is no better than speeding really, both horrible examples for children to see / hear but probably even worse to see you out of control as you are supposed to be the one they look to for example and guidance.

Fair comment. We are the grown ups. But after they drove back up the road flat out sticking 2 fingers up, sorry you can forget about being nice.
When your kids are outside playing and this happens let me know how you react. Strikes me you probably would put this person on you christmas list.

Try living on the Portsmouth road where the speed limit is 30!!, the only chance of my son playing safely outside the front of our house is Carnival night. Can I suggest that the children play in the back garden which is probably safest as even though Hunters Chase is a cul de sac it is still a road. Speeding or not cars are a danger and the road is not a playground. I also suggest that the police are informed as thats the only way to stop the offender legally.

What a shame children are so important but boys with toys don't always understand that. Do try and report it to police its what we pay our taxes for, taking matters into own hands only plays into the idoits hand, I do understand its hard not to take matters into your own hands but its not worth it.Speak to drivers parents if possible, parents don't like to hear about there childrens bad behaviour. Also ask the local street watch patrol to keep there eyes open for the car as they have a more direct route to the police. Good luck
