Volunteer work
- Mrs (30th May 2017 - 19:44:53)

I'm looking for volunteer work for young teenager - preferably animal charity. Does anyone know of anything locally?

Try the Cats protection league in Upper Hammer Lane just before the
A3 underpass bridge near Bramshott Chase.

- Lisa (31st May 2017 - 15:51:16)

Can I respectfully suggest that the said teenager try arranging their own voluntary work? Why is it a parent's job to find this? (And before anyone says anything, yes, I do have teenagers, and yes, one of them is doing voluntary work that they themselves arranged). Typical of much that is wrong with society when we cannot let young people learn about the world (and themselves) without being molly coddled (or is it just sheer apathy that prevents a young person from having a go at something new?)

Try the equine hospital or the various vets?

Lisa , what a bizarre response to a parent just trying to help their child ., I am sure it has helped !!! Not

Lisa think outside of your narrow minded box!!!! This teenager might well have special needs or issues that cause them not to be able to do this independently. I wish you well Mrs and hope your teen finds suitable work.

Try the website do-it.org. They have loads of volunteer places on there doing all sorts of things. Good luck

Glad to have helped!

Thank you everybody for your help. I wasn't going to bother to reply - I personally felt quite hurt by the unhelpful comment - and yes Jk you are right, my teenager does have some difficulties that I did not want to go into on this website, Having seen all your kind messages after the very unhelpful message, it has restored my faith in people! (however it has put me off using this forum in the future).

Just a cautionary comment ... If a young person (especially a more vulnerable one) is looking for volunteer work then please check out the organisation. If the organisation is willing to take on young or less abled volunteers then ideally the staff should be DBS checked.

Great to see a mum helping their child, that's what mum's imo are for,we all need a helping hand at times, some of us needed confidence building when young,..have you ever tried ringing around dog and cat rescues, that's what i did,and ended up walking a lot of dogs, voluntary, and thoroughly enjoyed it,..good luck.

I think the response from Lisa, and the words... " Typical of much that is wrong with society when we cannot let young people learn about the world (and themselves) " beggars beyond belief. I actually gasped when I read this.
. No Lisa you are wrong, statements like that is what is wrong with society. Maybe the youngster has been looking too and this was just another way of looking that his mother thought of. How judgmental and totally uncalled for. Maybe think before replying to a post.
Mrs, do not be put off from using this forum.
There is a greyhound kennel just outside Liphook on the way to Petersfield, I do believe they use dog walkers, maybe worth a try.

Mrs please do not let a rude person like lisa stop you using this forum . If anyone lisa should not use it as only having narrow minded comments to add , you are obviously just trying to help your child x keep up the good parenting.

Thank you so much for your kind words :-)
