Deer
- AJ (28th May 2017 - 19:35:14)

Has anyone had a problem walking their dog on Passfield Common the last few days.
My husband and I plus dog have now been chased twice in a very aggressive manner by a deer. Really scary, nothing seems to deter her.

Deer shouldn't attack unless you get too close to them in their territory, if they perceive you as a threat, was you're dog on a lead and under control?

I just keep a distance, they are wild animals you can only admire from afar or at your peril.

She probably has babies nearby. I don't know if your dog was on the lead but it might be a good idea to have the dog on a lead on that part of the Common at the moment.

Do you mean the enclosed common or the common that leads to Conford?

On the enclosed common we have come across a Mummy who barked (I don't know the terminology for the strange noise that deer make) at me and the dog, but she ran off.
She was literally right in the middle of the path by the entrance/exit gate and we just kept on walking towards her thinking that she was sure to hop away. She did hop off, but only when Freya was about 1 metre away. After we walked passed she came back to almost the exact spot.

I've never heard of deers chasing humans - it must be quite scary. The Mum I saw was pretty big!
