Befrienders
- Claire (2nd May 2017 - 17:52:03)
Hi all
Not sure if you are aware of the charity based in Bordon - TLC hospice services at home. Tending , Listening, Comforting offer a befriending service to those who have limitations on their lives. You do not need any particular qualifications, just an empathetic approach and a desire to make a difference. There is full training and support.
It is a befriending service so there is no personal care or cleaning expectations.
I know that in December there were posts on here asking if any elderly people were going to be lonely and would appreciate a visit ......
don't wait until December, consider it now!!
I have to say since I signed up as a volunteer I look forward so much to visiting my friend each week! Because I work full time I visit either on a weekend or in the early evening . To find out more please follow the link below.

Sadly the funding streams are now insufficient to keep the charity viable. There is a lot going on behind the scenes to try and look for a way to keep volunteers visiting people. Many of us will continue to see our friends independently and hope there will be an 11th hour solution.
So sad that such a fantastic charity which supports vulnerable people and their carers is in this position.
For so many, the visits are a lifeline, a way to maintain a connection with the wider world, respite from stresses , loneliness or illness.
Fingers firmly crossed that a reprieve is found.
