Activity opposite Station Road
- Anna (2nd May 2017 - 12:33:01)

Roundabout maybe.

I may have my wires crossed but I thought the surgery was only the sweetener if the land was allowed to be developed. As the SDNP put a stop to that proposal I had assumed there would be no new surgery. Maybe someone else has an update?

The planning permission has lapsed so they're having to tidy it up!

I think its one of the proposed bypasses to the Square. There have been several posts on here. The developers must be hopeful that the need for a road will allow them to get planning permission (previously refused by the National Park authority) to build a housing estate on the Bohunt land. Unfortunately Longmoor Rd to Station Rd traffic isn't really the problem.....

The last planning application for the site was refused by the SDNP, it is more likely they have been forced by the local authority to make the area look more presentable, the sign has never been true, no new surgery despite what the sign said.

Can't the owners be made to put it back as was?

Or at lease reinstate a hedgerow where the ancient hedgerow was ripped out?

To keep a planning permission open, they only have to establish that they have done some groundworks every so often. The permission for the road layout was granted and to keep it 'live' they only have to move the soil about every once in a while. I expect this means that they are appealing the decision on the separate application for housing. they're not going to spend money building a road to nowhere after all!

There was no appeal, the time has long since passed for that, there was no application for a road in the last application, only access.

h
agreed, but the permission to build the new road layout etc was previously granted. They have to show that they working on it to keep it 'live'. Clearly, they are not actually working on it and this is just a cynical attempt to 'fake it' to keep the permission open. They have no intention of laying a road to nowhere, so why bother with the deceitful behaviour. Just put it back to hedgerow and forget about it!
They have invested too much money to forget about it, they will keep trying for the houses- why else carry on with the intermittent 'pretend' roadworks.
